[Not so] Backlog: The Hatfield Peace Tree

If it’s just from last week, does it really count as a backlog? Do I need to re-think the name of this blog?

It’s an exciting day in my world when a video makes it to a public destination, and I’m really proud of this one. The only thing I did *not* do on this was run the cameras on the interview – my colleague and I set them up, and he monitored while I ran the interview. But otherwise, from the project management to the b-roll to the edits and everything else between fell to my hands. I was even assigned to take the most recent group photo (the last one in the series), just a day before publication. The most intensive – and also rewarding – part was researching the historical images. If someone’s going to tell a story about the planting of a tree, you want to see that happen, you know? And thankfully, multiple sources came through and found these gorgeous images that fit the story perfectly. Click through the screenshot below to play.

There’s a vertical version that I re-edited to work better for mobile on Instagram, too.

I do love a good tree.
