About Me

My heart lies lies between life and the click of a shutter, capturing  moments otherwise forgotten. It swells in the lingering on a scene, waiting for the perfect confluence of light and movement and sound. And it beats in that brief pause between question and answer, when an interview finds meaning in the chaos.

Whether it’s a union worker telling their story or a Senator reaching out to their constituents, my work empowers people to use their voice to inform, to educate, to make a difference.

I am currently serving the United States Senate as a Visual Information Specialist – or as I like to call it, “Official Senate Photographer Who Also Does Video.” Previously, I spent 12 years as a Videographer/Editor for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) in Washington, DC.

I earned a Master’s degree in photojournalism at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism in August 2011, and completed internships with National Public Radio (NPR.org) and The Seattle Times.

When not working, I’m often chasing my husband, two kids, and two dogs around our neighborhood, hiding in the kitchen baking bread, running many miles at a time, or singing/volunteering with the Washington Revels and Alexandria Choral Society.
